Balikbayan Renaissance is an open-format series that featureS arts-based workshops, roundtable discussions, lectures, interactive participation and more. Learners will be able to discover and delve deeper into Filipino culture as we understand it here in Toronto, and back home.

*DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND* -- We have decided to cancel our workshops and instead offer the community DIY kits, so you can create your parol at the comfort of your own home! Prep for Pasko by crafting your own one-of-a-kind parol (Filipino Christmas lantern). Purhase a DIY kit with all the materials needed to light up your holiday season! All proceeds will benefit the centre's youth programming.

Artscape Youngplace is within close walking distance of several public transit stops. Take the 501 Queen streetcar to Shaw Street (stop #6850), the 505 Dundas streetcar to Ossington Avenue (stop #2175) or the 63 Ossington bus northbound to Shaw Street (stop #6052) or southbound to Argyle Street (stop #5952).


Limited bicycle parking racks are located near the main entrance at 180 Shaw Street.

A contribution of $75 to the Balikbayan Renaissance Program allows five low-income youth participants to access a workshop/lecture for free.

Kapisanan is a brave space which integrates an anti-oppression framework for young Filipinos to express their voices, exchange ideas and explore their roots together as an empowered community.
